Longtime Fairmount Bed & Breakfast Closes

by Sammy Edmonds posted Apr 3 2014 11:11AM
After 16 years, a well-known bed & breakfast in Fairmount has closed.  In 1997, owners Earl and Patryce Loftin had cleverly named the business the “Loft Inn,” and since that time have enjoyed a large spectrum of guests from around the world.
Patryce Loftin says it was finally time to focus on other things.  Loftin taught for over 20 years, with nine years spent educating Thompson Consumer Electronics workers in Marion.  Loftin, who holds a masters degree, says she now wants to further her education and possibly pursue a less labor-intensive career.  She says although the chapter of the “Loft Inn” is closed, she will take with her precious memories of interactions with the people, including dozens of celebrities who would pass through the historical town.
The “Loft Inn” was the only bed & breakfast in Fairmount.  Especially with the consistent in-pouring of James Dean fans each year, Loftin says there is a great need for the business and hopes someone else will open one in the future.
