After an eleven year break, Marion Community Schools may be offering pre-school classes again in the fall.
A proposal has been brought before the school board to bring back pre-school classes in Marion. The proposal includes the total cost for salaries, supplies and start-up costs would be about a half-million dollars, most of which can be taken from remaining Title One funds. The pre-school program would collaborate heavily with the existing Grant County Head Start program at the Tucker Vocational Center.
Director of Elementary Education Brenda McVicker says the goal is to make sure as many students as possible have access to pre-school. If approved, Marion schools would double its number of pre-school students. The classes would take place at Justice Intermediate School.
McVicker says they are thrilled with the opportunity...
McVicker says they’re ready to go ahead with marketing and registration as soon as they get board approval. The board will vote on the proposal at the April 23rd meeting.
