Marion Community School students will see schedule changes starting in the fall, after school board members approved both daily and overall calendar adjustments last night.
The new school year will start on August 11th, one day earlier than usual, and will let out one day earlier for winter break as well. For the spring semester, two snow days have been built in on Martin Luther King Junior Day and Presidents’ Day. In case of another extraordinary winter, students will have school those days. If more make-up days are needed, they’ll be added to the end of the year, rather than the longer days that were implemented this year.
Superintendent Brad Lindsay says these changes are all about the students.
Another change in the fall is a later daily start and end times at all schools. Lindsay says this is in the interest of saving nearly 200-thousand dollars in transportation costs by revamping the bussing system.
