MGH Prescription Drug Guidelines

by Sammy Edmonds posted Mar 24 2014 3:57PM
Marion General Hospital, area law enforcement agencies and health providers have joined together to establish guidelines on prescription drug distribution and usage.

M-G-H Spokesperson Ann Vermilion says the guidelines should help reduce the amount of prescription medication coming from the hospital and especially through the emergency room.   She says the goal is getting patients away from medication and finding the source of their pain.

Vermilion says the key will be to educate patients about the changes.

M-G-H will use the new guidelines along with local health care providers and law enforcement agencies in Grant and surrounding counties to try and reduce the amount of prescription medication being used.

Those new guidelines will take effect by early April.
