Man Jailed for Threatening Girlfriend with Machete

A Marion man was jailed for criminal confinement and intimidation with a deadly weapon among other charges after reportedly threatening to kill his girlfriend with a large knife after destroying her car.
Marion Police say 36-year-old Steven Cole only admitted to battering the 37-year-old female victim.  The victim and a second boyfriend told police he smacked her on the face as she was trying to dial 9-1-1, knocking the phone away breaking it.  Cole reportedly became enraged after learning his girlfriend was seeing the other man, took a baseball bat and bashed out the windows of the victim’s car, then threatened to kill her with a machete. 
Cole was arrested in the 100 block of West 11th Street after a neighbor called police. 
Cole faces criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, intimidation with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief, interfering with the reporting of a crime and possession of a controlled substance.
