Marion Firefighter, Resident Burned in House Fire

by Sammy Edmonds posted Feb 14 2014 3:14PM
A Marion Firefighter and a resident were burned in a house fire Monday afternoon.

Firefighters arrived to 604 North Lancelot Drive just after 5pm to find flames and smoke enveloping the front of the house.  The nearby fire hydrant was frozen, and firefighters solely utilized pumper trucks to fight the blaze.  A resident of the home escaped and re-entered the home, but was pulled out of a back window and carried to an ambulance.  The resident was then taken to Marion General Hospital for treatment of 2nd degree burns to his arms and burns to his legs and back.

Firefighter Troy Middleton was also burned fighting the blaze.  He was also transported to MGH for treatment.

The name of the home’s resident has not yet been released.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.  The home is believed to be a total loss.
