Downtown Marion firefighters are being dispersed to other stations due to water damage caused from weekend storms.
While firefighters were out on emergency calls Sunday, a radio tower fell on Fire Station 1 penetrating the roof and caused significant water damage.
Marion Fire Chief Paul David says 18 firefighters in all...six from each shift...will be dispersed to other stations temporarily. At any given time, there will be three extra firefighters joining Station 2 on South Miller Avenue, one will join Station 4 on the east side and one will join Station 6 on the south side.
Chief David says he’s not sure how long his firefighters will have to be displaced.
