Although a Marion man reportedly denies doing so, he’s being charged with strangling and battering his girlfriend in the presence of children and holding her in confinement. The 26-year-old victim told police 29-year-old Taran Bauer choked her and trapped her in their bathroom in a home in the 3200 block of South Dunbar Drive, then bashed their car headlight in during an argument Sunday night. He later made a statement in person at the Marion Police Department denying most of the accusations, but was subsequently taken into custody. Bauer faces criminal confinement with injury, domestic battery in the presence of a child, and strangulation. He was taken to the Grant County Jail.
The victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening.
