Marion Man Faces 4 Charges after Battering Two People

A Marion man faces multiple charges after reportedly battering and injuring two people early Sunday. Officers were called to the 800 block of South Boots Street on the report that 31-year-old Sylvestor Carrizales beat his live-in girlfriend and another male. The female victim told police Carrizales stomped on her face multiple times, strangled her and attempted to twist and break her neck. The male victim told police he was struck in the face by the suspect. Both victims received medical treatment for facial wounds.
Officers found a blood trail that led them upstairs where they found the suspect who appeared to be unconscious. EMTs were called to the scene and helped to revive Carrizales who appeared to be intoxicated. He then resisted EMTs and officers and was tased before being placed under arrest. Carrizales was transported to Marion General Hospital then taken to the Grant County Jail. He faces aggravated battery, battery resulting in bodily injury, strangulation and resisting law enforcement.
