Marion Man in Custody after Combating Police

by Sammy Edmonds posted Jan 2 2014 10:59AM
A Marion man will face multiple charges after combating officers this morning.  Police stopped 27-year-old Tavarious Turner for multiple traffic violations near the Circle K at 7th and Washington Street at about 8am.  An officer said Turner was acting evasively and performed a pat-down, but during the search Turner fled on foot. Officers began scuffling with Turner who was reportedly combative the entire time before being tased multiple times and placed into custody.

He was found with a gun on his person, along with two other weapons in his vehicle, one of which was reported stolen.  Turner was checked out at Marion General Hospital after consuming pills while fighting with police.

Investigators are now looking into his involvement in the burglary of a home in the 1500 block of Winona Avenue as the gun was reportedly stolen from that residence in November.
