Marion School Investigating Friday Bomb Threats

by Sammy Edmonds posted Aug 25 2014 3:36PM
Marion Community School officials will be on the watch and a little on edge today as classes resume following Friday’s wild day that saw two bomb threats, Marion High School evacuated and many activities cancelled because it.

Marion High School received a telephone bomb threat late Friday morning and the building was locked down.  It was then evacuated after police felt the threat might be greater than first thought. The building was searched but nothing threatening was found.  All activities at the high school were cancelled Friday.

Late in the day, a note was found in a girls’ bathroom saying there was a bomb at McCulloch Middle School.  Nothing suspicious was found and classes at McCulloch were not disrupted.

Marion Superintendent Brad Lindsay said in a statement late Friday that school administrators, teachers and staff responded professionally to the situation as did Marion Police.  He said students were never in danger, but the evacuation of the high school was done as a safety precaution.
