Miami County will use voting centers for the 2014 elections.
The Miami County Election Board today unanimously approved using seven sites to hold polling for the May Primary and the November General elections next year.
The decision to switch to voting centers evolved out of a public forum in September where voters overwhelmingly voiced support for the voting centers instead of precincts that have been used for decades. The move is seen as a way to lower the cost of the elections and spur new interest in voting.
The sites that will be used on election days in 2014 will include the Converse Town Hall, the Bunker Hill Community Center, the Macy Christian Church, the Denver Baptist Church, the Blair Ridge Health campus in Peru, the Parkview United Methodist Church in Peru and the East Point Bible Church.
The Converse Town Hall, Blair Ridge Health campus, Bunker Hill Community Center and Denver Baptist Church will also be used for early voting prior to Election Day.
