Police believe a convicted killer who escaped from prison in Michigan Sunday may be heading to Tennessee through Indiana.
40-year old Michael Elliot escaped from the Ionia Correctional Facility in Michigan, according to a spokesperson for the Michigan Department of Corrections. Authorities believe Elliot carjacked a woman in Ionia using a knife or box cutter and drove to Middlebury, Indiana, where they stopped for gas just before midnight.
The woman was able to escape at the gas station and called police from a restroom.
Elliot drove off before police arrived and is still on the loose. Authorities consider him armed and dangerous.
Elliot was serving four life sentences for multiple first degree murders, arson and armed robbery for offenses that occurred in Michigan in 1993.
