Michigan Man Injured in Grant County Crash

by Sammy Edmonds posted Dec 3 2013 2:46PM
A Michigan man was injured in a crash on 1-69 in Grant County this (Thurs) afternoon.  Indiana State Police say 73-year-old Robert Burgess of Broomfield, Michigan, was traveling southbound on 1-69 near Gas City when his vehicle hydroplaned.  His vehicle then traveled off the interstate, hit a bridge deck wall, spun back onto southbound lanes striking another vehicle driven by 22-year-old Andrew Coccoli of Annapolis, Maryland.

Burgess was taken to Marion General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  Coccoli was uninjured.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts which State Police Trooper Jeremy Perez says helped prevent serious injury.

Both vehicles blocked the interstate for over an hour.
