More Using Smart Phones, More Road Distractions

by Sammy Edmonds posted Dec 3 2013 2:09PM
State Farm Insurance says now that more and more age groups are using smart phones, there is no generation gap when it comes to cell phone-related distractions on the road.  Indiana/Illinois State Farm Spokesperson Missy Dondov says drivers of all ages are more at risk of getting into an accident due to distractions likely caused by smart phone use.  Between 2011 and 2013 the number of drivers of all ages who purchased smart phones increased dramatically.  Dundov says educating drivers on the dangers of cell-phone distractions and better enforcement of laws are key in reducing the risk of accidents.
She says whether it’s web browsing, checking e-mail, talking on the phone or texting, any distraction is a danger and should be avoided.
