A Muncie man is accused of causing his infant son brain damage.
Joshua Orick was reportedly playing a video game on his tablet when the child began crying. The cries apparently distracted Orick, causing him to throw and break the tablet, then injure his son.
The 7-week-old baby was brought to the emergency room by his parents after he had turned “ghost white,” and had been suffering seizures and projectile vomiting for 2 days. The boy was flown to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis where doctors determined the child’s brain had been displaced in his skull 3.1 millimeters and he was bleeding on the right side of his brain.
Orick and the child’s mother at first failed to give an explanation for his injuries, but Orick later admitted that he may have been the cause.
Orick now faces multiple felony charges.
