As Hoosier drivers brave the roads, Department of Natural Resources spokesman Max Winchell says it’s even more crucial to be prepared for emergency. He says if you have car trouble, you’re more likely going to have to wait longer for assistance as wreckers and emergency crews are bogged down with calls for help.
Winchell says you should pack your vehicle with blankets, food and other survival items in the event you do get stranded.
He says if you get exposed to the cold or believe you have frostbite, you should warm up with dry blankets and clothes. Winchell says never pour warm liquids on your body as it could cause further damage...only drink warm liquids to warm up.
