Rate Increase Proposed For Indiana American Water Company

by Sammy Edmonds posted Jan 29 2014 3:40PM
Water customers in Muncie and several other cities around Indiana are looking at a possible rate increase of nearly seven-percent if Indiana American Water gets its way.
The “Star Press” reports the company has filed for a 6.75-percent rate increase with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.  That would work out to an increase of about two-dollars and 40-cents per month for the average residential customer.  The company cites the need for the rate increase is to pay for infrastructure improvements.
Indiana American Water plans to spend more than 25-million dollars in the Muncie area on pumping, treatment and storage facilities.
The increase still has to be approved by the I-U-R-C.
