Undergraduate students at Taylor University created a small satellite for NASA that will be launched into space on March 16th.
NASA held a design competition for nanosatellite technology, and Taylor students’ design was one of several chosen to be a part of the Education Launch of Nanosatellite program. Taylor was the only competitor to feature student work done exclusively by undergrads.
The nanosatellite is a class of spacecraft research also known as Cube-Sats. Taylor’s CubeSat will conduct communications tests between the other satellites as well as measure plasma in the earth’s orbit.
The CubeSat’s launch from Cape Canaveral this week will mark the third piece of hardware designed and built by Taylor engineering students to go into space.
