It’s been nearly 2-and-a-half months that Marion Fire Station One has been out of service since being damaged by November storms. Marion Firefighters have since been responding to Station One’s district from other stations. Fire Chief Paul David says the pressure is on. He says fire grows double in size every minute and it’s taking them double the time on average to respond to Station One’s district.
And he says the extreme weather conditions are not helping.
But, Chief David says they’re doing the best they can with what they have while waiting on bids to repair the roof of Station One. A radio tower had fallen onto the station’s roof, puncturing it resulting in significant water damage.
He says they’re unsure when the downtown station will be back in service.
