The murder trial of a Marion man has been postponed again, this time until April.
The “Chronicle-Tribune” reports the trial of Zachary Thien has been pushed back until April 7th in Grant County Circuit Court. It was supposed to go to trial in late February, but the delay was granted to give Thien’s attorney more time to go over new evidence obtained by the prosecution.
Thien is charged with the kidnapping and murder of his ex-girlfriend, Megan Chipman of Montpelier, in January of 2013. She was allegedly kidnapped from her home and driven to Marion where she was shot to death. Her body was found along highway 18 near the Hotel Marion.
If convicted, the prosecution plans to seek a penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole for Thien.
