Two Accidents on Marion Bypass Injured 5 People

Five people were injured after two separate accidents occurred within hours of each other on the Marion bypass today (Thurs). 
 
The first accident occurred just after 11am at 37th and Western Avenue where three people were injured.  81-year-old Juanita Lawson and 87-year-old Mary Baumgart of Sweetser and 70-year-old Francis Young of Marion were transported to Marion General Hospital for various injuries.
 
The second crash occurred before 2’oclock in front of the Marion Walmart.  54-year-old Rick Francis of Marion and 44-year-old Joetta Henderson collided nearly head-on as they were both attempting to turn opposite directions.
 
Both were taken to MGH for treatment of various injuries. 
 
None of the five injuries from either crash are believed to be life-threatening.
 
Both accidents remain under investigation.
