Unemployment Rates Continue to Fall in Indiana

Unemployment rates in Indiana and the surrounding area continue to fall, according to the latest figures from the state Department of Workforce Development.
The jobless picture in Indiana fell in March to 5.9-percent...the lowest level since July of 2008. The unemployment rate in Indiana has fallen two full percentage points in the past year, one of the largest declines in the United States.
In Grant County, the jobless figure fell to an even seven-percent...down half a percent from the previous month. Blackford County’s unemployment rate fell to 6.8-percent...the lowest level in several years. Delaware County dropped to 7.1-percent, Madison County to 7.4-percent and Miami County fell to 7.6-percent in March. Howard County fell almost a full percent point to 6.4-percent, while Wabash County fell to 5.9-percent and Huntington County went down to 5.8-percent. Wells County continues to have the lowest jobless rate in the area with just 5.2-percent unemployed.
