Unemployment Up Slightly in Area Counties

While Indiana reported good news in unemployment overall this past month, the jobless rate in area counties all took a slight jump in February.
The latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development shows Miami County having the most unemployed Hoosiers in the area at 8.3%. Madison County increased slightly to 8.1%. Delaware County’s jobless figure grew to 7.8% and Tipton County increased to 7.6%. Blackford and Grant Counties both increased to an unemployment rate of 7.5% and Howard County ticked up to 7.3%. Wabash County saw a slight increase in their jobless figure at 6.5% and Huntington County also increased slightly to 6.4%. Wells County’s unemployment figure bumped up slightly but it remains the lowest in the area at 6%.
