Grant County United Way campaign organizers will discontinue the annual telethon on WIWU beginning this fall and will instead host an outdoor concert.
The telethon was reportedly losing viewership and organizers said it was time for a change. Grant County United Way Campaign Chairman David Kay spearheaded the idea for an outdoor concert. Executive Director Alicia Hazelwood says the event will be called “Rock the Way,” featuring local artists and performers and non-profits showcasing their services.
Hazelwood says they envision the concert as more than just a fundraiser, but a way they can give back to the community.
“Rock the Way” will take place on September 13th at the Beaner Linn Park in Gas City.
The United Way is currently searching for performers, non-profits interested in participating and more committee members. Those interested can call the Grant County United Way office at 765-662-9811.
