Vectren Energy is embarking on a $650 million infrastructure upgrade. Vectren Chairman Carl Chapman says the project is already underway and will create 1400 mostly new jobs over the next seven years. Chapman says the work consists mainly of replacing 800 miles of bare steel and cast iron distribution pipelines with plastic material. The improvements also target Vectren‘s 13,000 miles of lines that serve customers across 48 Indiana counties. The upgrades are being done to meet federal safety compliance.
