Wilcox Fell Asleep Before Crashing into Semi

by Sammy Edmonds posted Dec 2 2013 3:01PM
Grant County Sheriff’s investigators have determined that a De Kalb County man who died after crashing into a semi Tuesday fell asleep at the wheel.
Sergeant Jim Kinsey says 45-year-old Robert Wilcox sent a text stating he was very tired 5 minutes before the fatal impact.
Toxicology tests are still pending on both drivers, but Kinsey says they believe the only contributing factor to the crash in Southern Grant County was fatigue.
Kinsey says it’s possible he could have been attempting to text while driving before the crash, but indicators lead them to believe he fell asleep at the wheel.
