A long-debated wind farm project will likely proceed in Grant County without the resident-friendly amendments that citizens and officials worked for months to achieve.
The Grant County Council last night again failed to take any action on the project, just like they did in late December, which again leaves the ball in the court of developer E-On Climate and Renewables.
Project Manager Andy Melka says they now have authority to proceed under the original terms of the agreement in their favor.
Melka says he’s shocked that the council did not take any action.
Some council members pointed out research showing detrimental effects of wind turbines, and said most of the constituent feedback was in opposition of wind farms. E-On officials pushed the project’s benefits, citing a decrease in overall taxes and the gain of new money into the county.
E-On plans to break ground later this year on construction of the wind turbines in Grant and Howard Counties.
