Gas City Electric Rates To Go Down In 2018

While local customers of Indiana-Michigan Power Company await word next spring about a massive rate increase, Gas City residents will see their electric rates go down in 2018.

Indiana Municipal Power Agency officials say I-M-P-A customers will see rates lowered by five-and-a-quarter percent starting January first.

I-M-P-A’s wholesale supplier will lower rates beginning with the new year and will pass the savings on to customers.

Gas City Mayor Larry Leach says it’s a win for Gas City.

I-M-P-A is a cooperative made up of 61 Indiana cities that buy their power wholesale from the group in an effort to keep energy bills lower in those communities.
