Pearl Bassett Honored With Century Award

A longtime Marion community and civil rights leader has received a high honor from the state of Indiana.

Late last week, Pearl Bassett received the state’s Century Award for her many years of community service, civil rights leadership and overall leadership in the community.  She was presented with the award by Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch after being nominated for the award by State Senator Andy Zay of Huntington.

Pearl Bassett is 107 years old and is still active at her church and in various community activities.
