Det. Mark Stefanatos received a merit award for his work on a murder case from December of last year involving a father and his two sons.
Marion Police Chief Angela Haley said Stefanatos worked tirelessly to bring the suspect to justice for both the city and the children’s mother.
Haley added that Stefanatos “did everything he could” to find out what happened in the case.
The award was presented in front of the city’s Board of Works meeting.
