U.S. Thunderbirds coming to Grissom Air Base in September

Mark your calendars for the Grissom Air and Space Expo coming to the Grissom Air Reserve Base on Sep. 7-8.

It has been 15 years since the base hosted it’s last air show and plans to headline this year’s show with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

The Thunderbirds are the Air Force’s premier aerial demonstration team and they will be joined by other military and civilian aviation acts for this two-day event.

This event will be the first air show type event held at Grissom Air Force Base since 2003 and will be free and open to the public.

The last air show put on by the base brought out about 60,000 people per day and officials plan on about the same number this time so make sure you come out early and find a good spot.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story falsely stated that the U.S. Blue Angels would be in attendance and not the U.S. Thunderbirds.
