The city’s finances, blight and roadways we’re the focus of Marion Mayor Jess Alumbaugh’s State of the City address on Wednesday.
On the city’s financial well-being, city controller Julie Flores says departments spent 98 percent of the budget, adding more than $600,000 to cash reserves.
Alumbaugh teased a few businesses that may be coming to town and spoke about potentially making Washington and Adams streets into two-ways once again.
Marion Utilities Director Chuck Binkerd gave an update on the city’s recycling efforts as well, discussing a plan to switch from the blue bag system to one more in line with the county’s recycling facility as it’s a more effective way to protect the environment.
