Carey Services accepting applications for scholarships

Carey Services, Inc. has established funding to award scholarships to graduating seniors with a documented disability who wish to pursue their education beyond high school.

Carey Services has a vision of a world where all people are empowered and equally valued in the community,” said Jim Allbaugh, Carey Services’ president and CEO. “When we talk about all people, that certainly includes the coming generation of leaders who today are in school and getting their educations. We need to support those future leaders as they grow and develop, and what better way to do that than by offering a college scholarship to help students continue their educations at the next level.”

The Carey Services Scholarship Fund is designed to invest in the lives of graduating students in Blackford, Grant and Madison Counties who desire to pursue an educational opportunity after high school. The mission of Carey Services is “turning abilities into opportunities,” and our Board of Directors and management team find it important to offer this opportunity to demonstrate we are a community-focused organization and we believe young adults with disabilities in our communities will make a lasting and transformational impact in this world.

The scholarship fund will award $3,500 to up to five recipients. The award is intended to cover expenses such as tuition, book fees, housing fees and meal plans. Applicants who will be the first in their families to attend college may receive preference in the consideration of their application.

Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on March 17, 2022. Applications may be submitted by email to jallbaugh@careyservices.com or may be mailed to Carey Services, Attn: Jim Allbaugh, 2724 S. Carey St., Marion, IN, 46953. Scholarship winners will be announced on May 10, 2022.

Carey Services will make special accommodations for individuals who need help completing the scholarship application. Call April Scott at (765) 668-8961, ext. 111, to make those arrangements.

The application consists of several basic-information questions along with seven essay questions that require no more than 750 characters for each answer. You can see the requirements and download the application at www.careyservices.com/scholarship.
