Muncie School Takeover Bill Debated In Senate

The elimination of the elected school board in Muncie is looking more likely. The discussion at the statehouse is now shifting to the terms of a takeover.

The bill giving Ball State control of the Muncie schools also frees the university from several state regulations, including collective bargaining with teachers. Muncie Teachers are protesting, saying teachers need to be partners in reforming the schools.

A Senate committee could vote on the issue next week.
