The number of international students at Ball State University has dropped dramatically in the past three years and school officials are trying to find out why.
In 2014, Ball State had just under 800 foreign students. This year, the number is just over 450…a 43-percent decline.
Many of those international students came from Saudi Arabia and Brazil, whose governments have reduced scholarships for foreign study due to falling oil prices.
Ball State officials are investigating to see if other issues are involved.
