Demolition is set to get underway at the old Hotel Marion today as the Marion Housing Authority makes way for a new facility.
The old hotel has sat empty for the past couple of years and the M-H-A decided to tear down the structure and develop a new multi-purpose facility.
Once the old hotel is brought down, construction will begin on a three-story structure that will feature market-rate apartments on the upper two floors and commercial development on the ground floor .
Housing Authority officials hope to finish the demolition and begin laying the foundation for the new structure by early fall.
