Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana will celebrate a milestone today.
The organization says in its nearly 40-year history, it has distributed more than a half-billion pounds of food and non-food items for Hoosiers.
Despite the accomplishment, Gleaners CEO John Elliott says food insecurity continues to be a problem in the state, and throughout the country.
“With 40% food waste and 15% food insecurity, we don’t face a food shortage,” Elliott said. “We face a supply chain opportunity.”
