Marion Community Schools announces reopening plan

Marion Community Schools officially approved its reopening plan Tuesday night. Students now have the option to return to in-person classes or pursue a pathway that’s entirely online.

Students are encouraged to wear masks. Students and staff are expected to carry masks with them at all times.

The first day for K-12 students will be Aug. 5 and preschool will begin Aug. 10. There will be early dimissals Aug. 5-7 to allow school officials to review the current plan and make any adjustments.

E-learning days are currently scheduled for Sept. 25, Oct. 9, Nov. 13 and March 12.

Daily start and end times will remain generally the same, but students will not be permitted into buildings before building opening times.

Students and staff are required to do daily self-checks for COVID-19 symptoms prior to arriving at school. Attendance will be taken each day, but the corporation will not be giving attendance awards.

More information about the district’s procedures can be found on the MCS website.
