MCS superintendent Lindsay resigns, Burke named interim superintendent

On Tuesday, the School Board named Assistant Superintendent Keith Burke Interim Superintendent, after Dr. Brad Lindsay resigned to pursue other endeavors.

Lindsay had announced in July that he planned to retire after the end of the 2021-2022 school year. It remains unclear what prompted this sudden change.

Burke, who served as Marion High School Principal for seven years, has been Assistant Superintendent since May. As Interim Superintendent, he will oversee all operations and programming at Marion Community Schools.

“I am happy to be able to serve Marion Community Schools and the community of Marion during this transition time,” Burke said. “The administrators, educators, and staff are committed to continuing the work of serving our students, families, and community well. Our children are why we exist, and we will continue to give them our best. While Dr. Lindsay was Superintendent, Marion Community Schools flourished. We are looking forward to building on the Giant success of the past several years and continuing to meet the challenges together. We will work to make it the best year yet at Marion Community Schools.”
