Hartford City man gets 45 years for killing a man and burning his body in Grant County

A Hartford City man who killed his estranged wife’s boyfriend, then set fire to the victim’s body, was sentenced Monday. According to the Muncie Star Press, 49-year-old Donald E. Lamley II — who pleaded guilty to murder and abuse of a corpse — was sentenced to 45 years in prison. Police say Lamley used a hammer to beat 26-year-old Jeremy Allen Overla to death, after hiding in the man’s pickup truck on Oct. 25, 2019. He then drove that vehicle to Grant County, where he set the truck and Overla’s remains on fire. Lamley was later arrested at a rest stop on I-69, several hours after the burned vehicle and body were found in a field along Wheeling Pike, just north of Matthews.
